Montessori Language and Jolly Phonics Introductory Course
A practical two-day course for teachers, parents, tutorial centers, preschools, small schools and aspiring educators. Understand the child from birth to six, prepare the learning environment, strengthen oral language and literacy readiness, and connect Montessori language principles with an introductory understanding of systematic English phonics and Jolly Phonics.
First developed by SEELS in Japan in 2012, the course retains the same educational foundation and twelve-part syllabus in the Philippines. Local examples, schedules, fees, partner institutions and follow-up pathways are adapted to the realities of each country.
Within the present SEELS pathway, IC also helps adults understand the foundations behind Bite-Size Montessori—the shared Montessori-informed early-childhood foundation primarily for approximately ages 2.5–4—before more explicit Filipino or English Reading & Writing instruction when developmentally appropriate.

Why This Course Endures
The central subject is universal: understanding the child.
School systems, languages and available materials may differ, but the need to observe children carefully, respect developmental readiness, prepare purposeful environments and connect teacher knowledge with classroom practice remains relevant across countries.
The course does not begin with a product or teaching script. It begins with the child, the adult, the environment and the developmental foundations required before effective language, reading and writing instruction can take place.

Philippine delivery applies the same core syllabus to preschools, tutorial centers, home-based learning, community literacy work and small-school settings.

IC prepares the adult foundation. Bite-Size Montessori helps translate it into early-childhood practice.
The Introductory Course and Bite-Size Montessori are connected but distinct. IC introduces adults to child development, observation, prepared environments, Montessori Language and beginning phonics. Bite-Size Montessori organizes many of those early foundations into a practical Montessori-informed approach for young children, primarily around ages 2.5–4.

Important:
Bite-Size Montessori is not a mandatory prerequisite for JCAT, Tunog at
Pantig or every later SEELS pathway. It is a separate Montessori-informed
early-childhood foundation. Participants who want deeper Montessori
philosophy, observation and classroom formation are encouraged to explore
Digital Montessori Education (DME).

Begin with the why behind Montessori: its scientific foundation, historical development and view of education as an aid to life.
Child Development from Birth to Six and Sensitive Periods
Examine order, movement, language, sensory refinement, independence and how developmental readiness influences behavior and learning.
Montessori Method and Core Principles
Revisit the prepared environment, freedom within limits, purposeful activity, self-correction, concentration and normalization.
Montessori Language Foundations
Trace the pathway from oral language and phonemic awareness to writing, the Movable Alphabet, word building and early reading.

This is a SEELS-developed introductory professional-development course.
- It is not an AMI Montessori diploma or AMI orientation certificate.
- It does not by itself qualify a participant as a Montessori teacher.
- It does not automatically grant official Jolly trainer status.
- It does not replace an official standalone Jolly Learning course.
- It does not guarantee employment, promotion, clients or income.
- Certificates follow the announced attendance and completion conditions.

- Any announced early-registration rate applies only when payment is completed by the stated deadline.
- Cancellation requests received at least seven days before the first session may be transferred once to another available batch or refunded, less applicable payment-processing charges.
- Payments are non-refundable within seven days of the starting date, after the course has begun, or in cases of non-attendance.
- If SEELS cancels or reschedules the course, participants may transfer their payment to another available batch or request a full refund.

The Introductory Course may stand alone. It is the adult foundation, not a requirement to complete every later SEELS program. Participants may continue according to their role, learner readiness and actual implementation need.

What is the SEELS Montessori Language and Jolly Phonics Introductory Course?

Is the Philippine course different from the Japan course?
The educational foundation, intended audience, learning outcomes and
twelve-part syllabus remain aligned. Regional schedules, fees,
classroom examples, partner institutions and continuation pathways
may differ.
Who may attend?
Early-childhood teachers, Montessori educators, English and
young-learner teachers, parents, home tutors, tutorial-center owners,
school leaders, teaching assistants and aspiring educators may attend.
No previous Montessori qualification is required.
Is this an AMI Montessori diploma or orientation certificate?
No. It is a SEELS-developed introductory professional-development
course. It does not by itself provide an AMI diploma, AMI orientation
certificate or qualification to represent oneself as an AMI-trained
Montessori teacher.
Does the course make a participant an official Jolly Phonics trainer?
No. The Jolly Phonics component introduces alignment and practical
application within the stated SEELS course scope. Official Jolly
trainer status or official standalone course certification applies
only when expressly provided by Jolly Learning or its authorized
arrangements.
Must participants continue into another SEELS program?
No. The course may be taken as a stand-alone introduction. Further
training, practicum or institutional development is optional and
should be based on teacher readiness, learner needs and the published
requirements of the next program.

International Montessori Congress was held at the Queen Sirikit National
Convention Center in Bangkok from August 2–5, 2023. Jolly Learning
identifies its own courses and authorized arrangements as official Jolly
